Manhattan has been in desperate need of more outdoor concert space and, luckily for us, the Seaport District in Lower Manhattan has come to the rescue.
The Rooftop at Pier 17 is set to open up its "Rooftop Concert Series" at the end of this month with a heavy hitting line-up that boasts 2 nights of St Lucia, 2 nights of STS9, Slash, Sting (and Shaggy...), Ziggy Marley w/ Steel Pulse and Thievery Corporation just to name a few. Perched on top of 4 stories with 1.5 acres of usable space The Rooftop at Pier 17 provides the ultimate music viewing experience. Like a metropolitan version of Red Rocks, the astroturf deck is set amongst an awe-inspiring, stadium-like backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo waterfront. Concerts are scheduled to run until mid-October so The Rooftop at Pier 17 is sure to be your temporary cure for those post Labor Day blues. Editors note: If you are up for it...the bad boy move is spending the day at Rockaway Beach, taking the NYC Ferry (regular subway fare) directly into the Seaport and catching a show to cap the night off.
